1. Huabo Games

Over the weekend Nintendo celebrated its annual Mario Day celebration on March 10. That celebration included a cornucopia of sales on Switch games and accessories and a few surprise announcements from Nintendo itself in honor of the beloved plumber.

These announcements included confirming release dates for upcoming games, reviving some retro classics, and a message from Mario creator Shigeru Miyamato. Here’s everything that Nintendo revealed on Mario Day.

A New Super Mario Bros. Movie

In a message from Shigeru Miyamato, it was announced that a new animated film, based on the world of Super Mario Bros. is in production at Illumination and will be released on April 3, 2026. No further details were given on the film, so it is still unclear if this will be a sequel or a spinoff to 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

Release dates for two upcoming games

We already knew about the Luigi’s Mansion 2 remaster and the Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door remake coming to Nintendo Switch, but we didn’t have release dates until now. The Thousand Year Door will be released first on May 23rd, with Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD coming a month after on June 27. Both titles continue Nintendo’s string of remakes and remasters of late, something that many feel is a sign that newer titles are being saved for the imminent release of a Switch successor.

Switch Online adds three new Mario titles

Nintendo Switch Online, the console’s subscription service that gives players access to a collection of titles from retro consoles, is getting some new games. The Game Boy’s Dr. Mario and the Game Boy Color’s Mario Golf and Mario Tennis will arrive on Switch Online March 12.

LEGO Mario Kart set is coming next year

LEGO and Nintendo have made several Mario sets together in the past and are teaming up yet again. A short teaser video announced that a LEGO Mario Kart set will be released in 2025.
